Probably should have ran for cover on that one… The winds have been blowing so hard that two kids (under the Newport Hotel sign) on the nose of that sailboat were playing around and seeing how far they could lean into the wind before falling over.

So we’ve been basically stuck in the boat for days. You really get to know people when you are stuck in a 15 x 50 foot space with them for days. For example, although this is a great boat, the walls are basically paper thin. For several days now, I’ve heard Susie in the bathroom and what sounded like my shaver running after she would use the shower and even go in there after lunch and dinner and here my shaver running again. I have a noisy Norelco electric razor on the boat. I would here for 5 minutes at a time: bbbbzzzzzzzzzzzzzzt… bbzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzt… bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzttt…… and I start to wonder “What the hell is she shaving all the time?” Oh yeah… “And why is she using MY razor?!” I didn’t want to ask.. I mean.. maybe she’s going through some sort of mid-life change now and part of that is rapid body hair growth and she just needs to shave 3 or 4 times a day.

So yesterday morning she takes a shower and is getting ready and she props open the bathroom door a little and I hear it again… bbbbzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzttt… bbbzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzt. But this time the door is cracked open and I can find out what she’s SHAVING if I sneak a peek and maybe get a picture to post here! Thank goodness I looked (I was afraid however). She bought a new electric toothbrush… had nothing to do with my razor. Whew….

Early in the morning I walked on down to the Newport Shipyard to see if they could fabricate a new hose for this shaft seal/transmission cooler problem. I had taken the old one off and the Newport Shipyard was about 6 blocks from here (per Google maps). Philippe and I walked there and they referred me to a place that makes all their hydraulic lines which was “up by the round-a-bout.” I had this look of despair in my eyes and asked “is it walking distance?” and he said “uhh.. no… or I can handle it for you.” They called me a few hours later and charged me 70 bucks for a new hose, which is a little high, but heck, it was worth it to me.

The new hose is made out of Parker hydraulic materials (blue hose) and had a compression fitting on one end:

It was definitely higher quality than the other one. My wife decides to grab the camera as I’m working and start taking pictures for some reason. So here I am putting the transmission cooler back together yet another time:

Note the firm buttocks and hole in my pants revealing my tighty whites underneath. She also went out and took a picture of the wet boat:

The red water hose is going down into the engine room. I rinsed the engine and bilge down yet again to flush out the saltwater. I also cleaned the Walker air filter. Susie thought it would also be funny to leave me a picture of the work she was doing:

I think she is poking fun at me… Why would she leave a picture of a toilet with brushes and cleaner on display… That is mocking me.. I may have to censor her. I only post this picture because she took it BEFORE cleaning the toilet and I wanted to show her DIRTY toilet.

My bridge has turned into “teen central hangout” with the computer, radio, etc. up there. Facebook is far more important than the weather:
Although they are trying to look all serious, we still managed to capture a picture of them looking retarded as usual:
The younger two were down below playing on the laptops with this whole “Webkinz” thing. I’ll write about that later though.
Note the happier child is using my Mac laptop and not the crappy Dell.

We are parked next to this Bannister’s Wharf area which has a bunch of shops and restaurants.
Just outside of this is a great BBQ rib place Susie and I ate lunch at the other day. Of course it was also loaded up with drunk college chicks so that can’t be all bad:
And the weather channel was on droning on and on about hurricanes and wet weather in the New England:
We went over in the rain last night and ate at a nice place in the shops area. I can’t remember the name… Something like “Pirate’s Booty” or something. It was very good. I have not been taking my camera out because of the downpours and don’t want to get it wet.

Today we are supposed to head off to Block Island but the weather report last night had 7-9 foot waves today going out there still. They extended the warnings until tonight and I’m not going out in that stuff. I’m going to try and beg for another night here in town and maybe Susie and I can go tour some of the mansions today… After she brushes her teeth of course.
Just did a check of the weather and it doesn't look half bad for today... Hmm...

Gary As long as you are near Bannister’s Wharf stop into the new Murphy & Nye Store there and give Scott Arnold a shout.
I am friends with his parents here in the Chicagoland area, and was out with them last night.
Your boys could probably blow their clothing allowance budget there without a problem.
Hope the weather clears and you have following seas soon!
Dan
What's the blow boat doing in your salon??
Nifty toilet bowel.
Why not, Greg?
We were on the boat this weekend cruising around and out of nowhere a group of people in a sailboat wave to us. But we're powerboaters! We all waved back. True story. Wish I remembered my camera.
